Available Nvidia ION based products overviewmotherboards, mini-PCs, nettops, netbooks, all-in-onesNvidia's ION chip truly brings the Intel Atom cpu to life. Combining the low power consumption of the Atom with the powerful graphical capabilities of the ION (which is essentially a Nvidia GeForce 9400M IGP) results in low power, low cost, small form factor PC solutions that are powerful enough to play back VC1/h.264/bluray 1080p video content and therefore ideal as a small, silent HTPC front-end. Current Nvidia Linux drivers fully support (using the VDPAU API) hardware based decoding of mpeg2, VC1 and h.264 as offered by the ION chip, therefore systems based on the ION chip are well suited for a Linux based HTPC, using software such as 'XBMC', 'Mythtv' and video players such as 'Mplayer'. Many Nvidia ION based products have been announced in the last few months by several manufacturers, some are already available, while others are still at the 'vaporware' stage. Zotac MAG HD / ZBOX HDThe Zotac Mag HD is Zotac's first foray into complete computers. It packs a fully featured Atom+ION motherboard, a 2.5" hard disk and some RAM into a small slim casing that can stand upright or lay flat or be mounted on the back of a LCD monitor/TV using the included VESA mount. The Zotac Zbox HD is a barebone variant of the Mag HD. While the Mag HD comes fitted with a hard disk and some RAM, the Zbox is essentially just a motherboard in a case, it's up to the customer to add a 2.5" SATA hard disk and some memory. Three Zbox variants have been released, two still based on the first generation dual core Atom N330 and NVidia ION (one compatible with DDR2-800 RAM and one compatible with DDR3-1066 RAM), and one based on the next generation Nvidia ION (a.k.a.
